The emergence of Persistent Memory, a byte-addressable non-volatile memory, invalidates many design decisions for most RDBMS layers such as Storage, Logging and Recovery, and the Buffer Manager. But using them to the full advantage is not trivial because requires a full redesign of the existing standard database stack and new protocols. In this session, we will explore some new ideas for these layers.
