The Autistic Data Professional’s Guide to the Job Search
Chris Voss
You may have heard some of the conversation around neurodiversity, in particular the autism spectrum. One key focus of many people with autism in our industry is the process of changing jobs, interviewing, and starting new. It can appear daunting when there are many unwritten social rules and expectations, but the process ultimately is not as daunting as one would believe. While it does take practice, there is some practical advice to guide career advancement.
This session will act as a guide for data professionals with autism when it comes to applying skills, going through job interviews, and the approach for starting a new job; this will also include a brief primer on autism itself. For hiring managers who may encounter data professionals with autism, you can have an understanding on traits. Chris will share real-life experiences and scenarios as a person on the spectrum, and you will have opportunities to discuss your own outcomes. At the end of the session, the expectation is that you will have better insight into what helps a data professional on the autism spectrum attain and keep a position.
