Fabric Architecture: Data Warehouse or Lakehouse, Which is the Right Choice?
Ginger Grant
When determining the best data storage solution in Microsoft Fabric for your curated layer, selecting between a Lakehouse and a Warehouse is a difficult decision. Since both provide the ability to allow access via a SQL Endpoint, charge only when queried, use TSQL, include data masking and other features commonly associated with SQL Server, how do you determine which is the best choice for your organization?
In this session we will look at the architecture decisions that determine which to choose, and we’ll also demonstrate how you can convert a dedicated pool from Azure Synapse DW into a lakehouse.
This session provides you with reasons for why you might want to consolidate your data and when this architecture might not be the best choice for your environment. If you are looking to design a data architecture for your organization, this session will help you make the right decisions going forward.
