The Accidental PostgreSQL Database Administrator: How I Did It
William Mentaze
As a production SQL Server database administrator for more than two decades, I had to deal with other relational databases management systems including PostgreSQL.
In this session, I will talk about the main tasks I was asked to do when I inherited a PostgreSQL 9.6 database on Linux Centos 7.
From scheduling the database backup jobs, to configuring a disaster/recovery solution using standby replication, and installing and configuring a PostgreSQL 14 database instance, I planned and implemented the upgrade from PostgreSQL 9.6 (Centos 7) to PostgreSQL 13 (Centos 7) on new hardware with minimal downtime.
At the end of this session, you will have enough information on different tasks handled by a PostgreSQL DBA, and the resources to help you complete the same task.
