SQL Server Performance Tuning, from Zero to Hero
Alex Grinberg
Over a couple of decades, my primary task has been SQL Server performance tuning. In this session, we will go over cases where performance problems are hidden within the SQL Server process. We’ll demonstrate the case of, ‘but it works on my PC’ – why/how it happens and how to fix it.
We’ll go over an execution plan in XML format, reveal valuable information sitting inside, and learn how to query the Execution Plans to detect and log “bad” queries that monitoring tools might otherwise miss. We will also cover other hidden gem T-SQL techniques that are not commonly used by DBAs and developers, efficient archiving processes and much more. The audience is suggested to ask performance-related questions and we will discuss those, time permitting.
