The Delta Lake format has become quite popular, and as the core storage format for most of the Fabric services, it is suddenly very relevant for many Microsoft data professionals.

But what exactly is Delta Lake – or any of the other lakehouse formats? And, while most database developers and DBAs know how to tune and maintain SQL tables and databases, how do we manage and tune Delta Lake tables? There are maintenance and tuning tasks to be performed on Delta Lake tables to make them perform properly.

In this session you will learn about lakehouse file formats, with the main focus on Delta Lake. You will learn the weaknesses and strengths of the format, and how to approach it in Databricks as well as Microsoft Fabric. You will also learn how to tune and maintain for optimal performance.
