Scaling Columnstore Indexes

Thomas Grohser

Columnstore indexes are a great feature that can save a lot of space and increase the performance of your reporting and analytical queries – but it needs to be designed, configured and used correctly. The data needs to be loaded in a certain way to make it most effective. This session will demonstrate how to partition, model, select data types, insert data into a clustered column store and how to write queries to get the data out as efficiently and quickly as possible.

It will also tell you all the things you unfortunately cannot (or should not) do with a clustered column store index.
