Azure Data Factory Essentials for SSIS Developers

Tim Mitchell

You’ve been working with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for several years now and you’ve gotten pretty good at it. In that time, you’ve heard of the newest ETL tool offered by Microsoft – Azure Data Factory – but so far, you’ve not had any exposure to it and you’ve got a lot of questions: Is it just a cloud-based version of SSIS? Can I just convert my existing SSIS packages to Azure Data Factory assets? How would ADF fit into our company’s data integration architecture?

In this session, we’ll introduce SSIS users to the world of Azure Data Factory (ADF). We’ll compare the terminology, features, and limitations of ADF to those in SSIS – and will review the advantages and drawbacks of each. We’ll conclude by demonstrating the use of ADF to handle several data movement needs.

This session is intended for data professionals with some exposure to other ETL tools such as SSIS, as well as those familiar with ETL concepts in general.
