Scaling SQL Server Beyond 1 Core

Thomas Grohser

The data we have to manage grows faster and faster, and the queries we analyze are getting more and more complex. Many applications and workloads cannot easily be converted to scale-out solutions. This session explains how to scale up SQL Server and what you need to do to end up with a system that scales well.

We will look at 2,4,8 and 32 socket systems and see how we can optimize for latency, throughput, and concurrency. We will also look at hardware options, OS configurations, and SQL Server settings.
